Happy New Year.

I don’t do New Years Resolutions, I think they are stupid and constitute an amazing degree of personal hubris. If you are going to make a change in your life for the better, do it. Do it every day of your life, don’t set yourself up for failure, set yourself up for success.

Most people make New Years Resolutions that they know they will never keep. They set their goal unrealistically high as if to give themselves permission to fail. If you give yourself permission to fail, you have succeeded in assuring that you will fail.

I have spent the majority of my life managing to fail spectacularly. I don’t think I have ever been accused of setting my sights to low. In fact, I have been told on many occasions that my biggest problem is that I consistently set my sights far above what I am actually capable of achieving.

I guess I really am one of those idiots who would rather fail trying to achieve something great, then to succeed doing something mundane. This personal character flaw has brought me a great deal of grief, it has also brought me a great deal of satisfaction. I say this in the exact same spirit that Thomas Edison once said, that “I did not fail 1000 times to create a functional light bulb, I succeeded 1000 times in identifying ways to not create a light bulb”.

With each of my failures, I identified things that I was not able to master. I learned a funny truth back in college when I was studying Physic’s. Its a funny, and painful truth that has never left me. Though, through experimentation and observation we slowly unravel the mysteries and laws that govern the Universe, what we do not ever do, is make the laws that govern the Universe.

The Physical Laws that govern the Universe pre-exist the human race. They existed long before we showed up on the scene, and will continue to exist long after we are gone. We “Discover” them, and hopefully learn to make use of them in ways the benefit the human race. But we do not get to decide what those laws are, or how they operate.

2017 has been in many ways an example of this funny truth. The election of Donald Trump as President of the United States of America was one of those events that mirror that truth. The Fifth Column Treasonous Marxist Media, the Democrat Party, the Deep State and the #NeverTrump imbeciles are all still running around as if it were Nov 6th 2016 and the possibility of Trump being elected was only one of many possible outcomes of the 2016 presidential election.

Trump has had an incredible first year. New York Times fake Conservative op-ed columnist and #NeverTrump imbecile Bret Stephens recently admitted as much.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/12/30/nevertrumper-bret-stephens-whines-trumps-policy-victories-dont-matter-because-hes-a-bully/

Bret Stephens writes in the New York Times that even though he is happy with the policy achievements of the Trump Administration in its first year, he will never support Donald Trump because he is offended by the president’s personality:

Tax cuts. Deregulation. More for the military; less for the United Nations. The Islamic State crushed in its heartland. Assad hit with cruise missiles. Troops to Afghanistan. Arms for Ukraine. A tougher approach to North Korea. Jerusalem recognized as Israel’s capital. The Iran deal decertified. Title IX kangaroo courts on campus condemned. Yes to Keystone. No to Paris. Wall Street roaring and consumer confidence high.

And, of course, Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court. What, for a conservative, is there to dislike about this policy record as the Trump administration rounds out its first year in office?

That’s the question I keep hearing from old friends on the right who voted with misgiving for Donald Trump last year and now find reasons to like him. I admit it gives me pause. I agree with every one of the policy decisions mentioned above. But I still wish Hillary Clinton were president.

But I still wish Hillary Clinton were president.

Let that sink in for a few minutes. Despite what Trump has done, Stephens would still rather have Hillary Clinton as POTUS. Bret is a perfect example of how Conservative America has been betrayed for the last 5 decades. Yes, I did say “BETRAYED”. Various and sundry media outlets have trotted out an endless supply of so called “Conservative Intellectuals” who have lectured, cajolled, goaded, prodded chided and otherwise browbeat conservative American’s into accepting their liberal masturbatory fantasies of what should constitute Conservative American moral, ethical, and ideological principals and standards.

In my personal opinion, this betrayal began with William F Buckley Junior, an opinion, which I might add, I am not alone in sharing.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/william-f-buckley-jr-and-the-collapse-of-the-conservative-movement/2017/07/05/116202d4-55b8-11e7-b38e-35fd8e0c288f_story.html?utm_term=.84bb3310f742

Though for different reasons. Unlike his father, William F Buckley Junior, in my opinion was never an actual “Conservative”. For Junior, conservationism was, the family business, it was something that he was raised into as opposed to coming into on his own. He was, the aristocracy of the American Conservative Movement, an inherited position from which his wealth and social statues originated rather than one from which his principals drove him to.

His entire tenure as a political commentator, writer and editor at the National Review, was one of constant surrenders to liberal ideology in the name of advancing Conservative ideology. William F Buckley Junior began a movement of conservative death y a million little paper cuts. Always negotiating compromises that never benefited Conservative Ideology under the mistaken belief that Liberals would respect Conservatives if they were reasonable polite and diplomatic.

The political left was quick to seize upon the opportunity that Junior handed them. They saw the chance to move the “Overtone Window” of public perception on Conservative Ideology by placing atop the most powerful bully pulpits in America individuals purported to be Conservative Intellectuals, who were in fact, at best moderate liberals.

America had foisted upon it the likes of David Brooks and William Krystal. Members of a political aristocracy borne of the dying lamestream media. Once invincible gatekeepers of information who brokered no dissenting opinions, these pied pipers of pseudo Conservationism weekly trotted out their ever so carefully compromised and watered down versions of American Conservative Ideology.

Then something unexpected happened.

America’s conservatives woke up. But more importantly, they found their voices. They discovered “Social Media” where they could do what they had never been able to do before. They could get past the official gatekeepers of the holy flame. They cold say with a single unified voice that the fake aristocratic fake news fake Conservatives spokesholes like David Brooks and William Krystal did not speak for them. That they did not represent American Conservative Values.

It was the regular everyday American Conservatives that elected Donald Trump to be the 45th President of the United States of America. The GOP Establishment the Fifth Column Treasonous Marxist Media, the Fake Conservative #NeverTrump Imbeciles all fought tooth and nail hand in hand with the Democrat party to prevent Donald Trump from being elected.

But, like the laws of the Universe themselves, “Discovering” is all we actually get to do. They discovered that the average conservative American did not share their fake pseudo conservative ideology. Moreover, that the average conservative American was sick and tired of hearing their bullshit.

This is not to say that these purveyors of rarefied bullshit have seen the error of their ways, or given up their pretenses. No, far from it, they continue to double down on their arrogant narcissistic self inflicted stupidity. They cling desperately like rats to flotsam from a sinking ship. Braying like jackasses as they pound their no longer all powerful bully pulpits proclaiming their intellectual superiority over mere mortal average conservatives.

2017 will be remembered in history as the year in which the Pretenders to the Throne were cast aside. The year in which the self proclaimed Conservative Media’s Intellectuals were shown to be cheap imitations of the Emperor with no Cloths On.

The year when these fake Conservative Editors, pundits and commentators discovered a new natural law of the Universe, a law where they were no longer the gatekeepers of information and could no longer pick and choose which voices got heard, and which were ignored.

The Bret Stephens, David Brooks, William Krystal’s are still out there, still making their noise, still pretending that they are the true voices of Conservationism. But that is all that it is, pretension.

I have said this many times this year. Donald Trump is the first American elected to the office of President of the United States of America who entered that high office in possession of a genuine Super Power. President Donald Trump has the power to make people take off their carefully crafted masks of deceit and manipulation, and expose for the entire world to see, exactly who and what they really are. That may not seem like much of a Super Power, but in an age of universal deceit, that is actually one hell of a super power.

  1. Well I just got back from vacationing in Antarctic where I meet this curious little puppy who stole a bunch of Kettle chips from me after plopping a Bill Cosby pill in my adult beverage.

My new years resolution is to not let puppies plop things in my drinks. Also stop telling everyone where I keep my Kettle chips.

Meanwhile SWalker and his buddies from Yoyodyne propulsion systems always had new years resolutions which usually involved getting to planet 10 somehow or other.

Not sure why Mr. Wilde is anti new years resolution. Could be a cover.

  2. Huzzah!

Great article DG. made the hairs on my neck stand up. You have said in this article what so many of us think, feel and believe.

    Happy New Year my friend.
