The Russians have never really gotten over their experience in Afghanistan, so, for the last 20 years or so, given any opportunity to cause the United
States distress and discomfort, they have done what they could. This conduct on their part should not be mistaken for outright hostility from the Russians. It’s more of a tit for tat revenge kind of thing. During this time, one of the places that they have been most reliably able to twist the knife as it were, has been in area’s regarding Islamic hostilities towards the United States.
Iran, Iraq and Syria are perfect examples of situations where the Russian got just that sort of payback. They have consistently provided low level arms support and international pressure that was decidedly against American interests. In short, Russia has been using the militant Islamist as a pawn against America for purposes of payback for America’s role in the 80’s Russian experience in Afghanistan.
No one in their right mind should ever expect a sovereign nation like Russia to place American interests before their own national interests. To do so, would be a mark of intellectual stupidity of epic proportions. So yes, the Russian have their own agenda and their own national interests, and take every opportunity to advance them, even when such opportunities are directly opposed to those of the United States. Nothing even remotely shocking or surprising in this.
However, by using the militant Islamist as pawns, the Russians have opened themselves up to a whole new world of hurt. A world of hurt that has been looking for an excuse to open itself on Russia for a long time. No, not from the United States, from those very same militant Islamist that the Russians have been using as pawns against the United States.
You see, the problem is, as the Bible says, you cannot hold fire to your chest without getting burned. Well, the Russians tried, and now, they are getting burned.
Saudi Arabia has secretly offered Russia a sweeping deal to control the global oil market and safeguard Russia’s gas contracts, if the Kremlin backs away from the Assad regime in Syria.

The revelations come amid high tension in the Middle East, with US, British, and French warship poised for missile strikes in Syria. Iran has threatened to retaliate.
The strategic jitters pushed Brent crude prices to a five-month high of $112 a barrel. “We are only one incident away from a serious oil spike. The market is a lot tighter than people think,” said Chris Skrebowski, editor of Petroleum Review.
Leaked transcripts of a closed-door meeting between Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan shed an extraordinary light on the hard-nosed Realpolitik of the two sides.
Prince Bandar, head of Saudi intelligence, allegedly confronted the Kremlin with a mix of inducements and threats in a bid to break the deadlock over Syria. “Let us examine how to put together a unified Russian-Saudi strategy on the subject of oil. The aim is to agree on the price of oil and production quantities that keep the price stable in global oil markets,” he said at the four-hour meeting with Mr Putin. They met at Mr Putin’s dacha outside Moscow three weeks ago.
“We understand Russia’s great interest in the oil and gas in the Mediterranean from Israel to Cyprus. And we understand the importance of the Russian gas pipeline to Europe. We are not interested in competing with that. We can cooperate in this area,” he said, purporting to speak with the full backing of the US.
Well, now Russia is reaping what they have sowed.
(CNN) — Another suspected suicide bombing struck the southern Russian city of Volgograd on Monday, killing at least 14 people and further highlighting Russia’s security challenges as it prepares to host the Winter Olympics in less than six weeks.
The explosion hit a trolleybus near a busy market during the morning rush hour, a day after a blast at Volgograd’s main train station killed 17 people and wounded at least 35.
Vladmir Markin, a spokesman for the country’s federal investigation agency, told the state-run news agency RIA Novosti that both explosions were terrorist attacks.
“This strike, which was cynically planned for the period of preparations for New Year’s celebrations, is one more attempt by terrorists to open a domestic front, sow panic and chaos, and trigger religious strife and conflicts in Russian society,” said a statement Monday by Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“We will not back down and will continue our tough and consistent offensive” against terrorists, the ministry’s statement said, adding that such an enemy “can only be stopped by joint efforts” involving the international community.
The truth is really very simple, though the Russians are no more likely to publicly admit it then the US Government is. That truth is this, Islam is an Arab Supremacist religion that demands that the entire world be subjugated to Islam. There are no nations on earth, that sooner or later, will not be subject to Islamic violence and attempted conquest.
The Russians have deceived themselves in the exact same fashion as various imbeciles within the US Government have, believing that, if they help certain Islamic factions, that those Islamic factions will become allies. That is not how the Arab Islamic mind works. The militant Islamic mind has determined that all none Muslims are slaves who owe them money and support. To take money and weapons and other supplies from infidels does not mean any long term obligation. Such loyalty purchased from a Muslim by an infidel, is only temporary, only good for so long as is advantageous to the Muslim. They are under no moral or ethical obligation to abide by or maintain that loyalty one single second beyond it’s being advantageous to them.
The Russians have grabbed a dragon by the tail, and now it is turning to bite them. As Detective John McClane said in the movie Die Hard, “Welcome to the Party Pal”. The Russians are no longer our enemies, the cold war is over. But make no mistake about it, they are our competition. I hold no ill will or animus against the Russian people. Only one thing in life is certain, things change. Wait long enough, and former enemies will become allies and former allies enemies. Wait long enough and the Russian will no doubt again become our enemies, but not today, nor any time in the immediate future, unless we do something stupid to cause it.
Today the two greatest threats facing the planet earth, are Marxism and Islam. The Russians have learned the hard way how deadly Marxism is, hopefully it will not take them as long to figure out how deadly Islam is as it did with Marxism. Tragically, America’s current political aristocracy believes that they are at long last the right people to finally make Marxism work. They are as dead wrong about Marxism as they are about Islam being a peaceful religion.
