Holy carp, somebody over that the Washington Post is threatening to burn out the last two braincells they have. Ok… truth time, no they’re not…. Their still just as dumb as a bucket of used camel snot. Shame that Guy Benson, posting over at HotAir’s Green Room isn’t any brighter.
Lessons: (1) The dire predictions were false, and (2) Washington politicians — even liberal ones — really can find waste and fat to trim when push comes to shove. Contrast this reality with the alarmist forecasts of imminent meltdown the White House peddled for weeks in advance of the miniscule spending reductions. Those “cuts,” incidentally, took effect four months ago yesterday. The zombie apocalypse should be arriving any minute now. But if it doesn’t, perhaps our massively in debt federal government could survive another haircut or two — and withstand some longer-term reforms while we’re at it.
NEWS FLASH Guy… The sequestration was a fraud, a hoax from start to finish. It’s sole and exclusive purpose was to provide an excuse to raise the debt ceiling. It had no other purpose what-so-ever.
Contrary to the assertions of both the Democrat and Republican leadership it was never intended to cut any spending. Are you getting it yet Guy? It was a LIE. All the sequestration ever did, was to cut the percentage of the increase in spending, not to cut spending. A 2% reduction of a planned 7% increase in spending is not a spending cut, it never has been and it never will be, it is a 5% increase in spending rather than a 7% increase in spending.
None, that’s right NONE of the threatened disasters came to pass, because… Their actual spending increased 5%, while not the 7% that they wanted, that still amounts to an increase in spending, not a cut in spending.
Even the legendary insane Wile E. Coyote Super Genius could have told you that, and he graduated from ACME University with a PhD in Roadrunner Hunting.
