If the IRS pledged to tax spammers, we might not mind them snooping through our e-mail without a warrant.
This my friends is how indoctrination and propaganda work. As if the story itself were not bad enough. The IRS blatantly violating the United States Constitution. Reading the emails of any US Citizen they want to at any time they want to without following the Due Process of obtaining a court ordered warrant, and doing so in direct violation of a Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling (U.S. v. Warshak) which the IRS acknowledges that they have read and are aware of.
On what planet in what alternative universe could anyone even merely pretending to be a Republican or masquerading as a spokesman for American Conservatives even as an Reductio ad absurdum utter the phrase “If the IRS pledged to tax spammers, we might not mind them snooping through our e-mail without a warrant.” and still retain one single shred of creditability as a Republican or a Conservative?
No this amounts to nothing less than the introduction of a new standard of lowered expectations, a conversion from one level to another of Relative Position. This is one of those those little tiny splinters of the mind that I spoke of in my article “Have you been Indoctrinated“.
This is Ed Morrissey exposing himself for who and what he really is, someone for whom there are no absolute positions, just negotiable positions. As the old joke goes, “Would you sleep with me for a million dollars? Yes. How about a hundred dollars? No, what do you think I am a prostitute? My dear, we have already established that you are a prostitute, now we are just haggling over the price.” This is just Ed Morrissey trying to haggle over the price.
