Gallup Poll: U.S. distrust in media hits new high

The record distrust in the media, based on a survey conducted Sept. 6-9, 2012, also means that negativity toward the media is at an all-time high for a presidential election year. This reflects the continuation of a pattern in which negativity increases every election year compared with the year prior. The current gap between negative and positive views — 20 percentage points — is by far the highest Gallup has recorded since it began regularly asking the question in the 1990s. Trust in the media was much higher, and more positive than negative, in the years prior to 2004 — as high as 72% when Gallup asked this question three times in the 1970s.

This year’s decline in media trust is driven by independents and Republicans. The 31% and 26%, respectively, who express a great deal or fair amount of trust are record lows and are down significantly from last year. Republicans’ level of trust this year is similar to what they expressed in the fall of 2008, implying that they are especially critical of election coverage.

Independents are sharply more negative compared with 2008, suggesting the group that is most closely divided between President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney is quite dissatisfied with its ability to get fair and accurate news coverage of this election.

And still Gallup, just like the entire rest of the Fifth Column Treasonous Media are utterly incapable of understanding how or why this has come to pass.

Contrary to what the Fifth Column Treasonous Media would like you to believe, the internet was not created to facilitate the sharing of pornography between Ron Paul supporters still living in their mothers garages.

It was intentionally and specifically invented to be a research tool. Everything about the internet is predicated upon the storage and retrieval of information. Yes, you can literally think of the Internet as the largest library in existence, complete with digital electronically accessible Dewey Decimal Indexing System.

Marxist Command and Control Economies have failed every single time they have been tried, amusingly, the Internet is a perfect example of why. What Marxist and totalitarians everywhere always fail to grasp or accept is, that the reason command and control economies always fail is, that you cannot predict, let alone control innovation. Invention and innovation occur at their own pace, sometimes fast, sometimes slow and incredibly often, in entirely unexpected and unpredictable directions.

If managing the starts, stops and unpredictable directions taken by innovation were all there were to it, then a command and control economy might almost be possible. But, that’s not all there is to it. Enter the Butterfly Effect, or as many on the political conservative right like to refer to it, the law of unintended consequences.

Unintended consequences

In the social sciences, unintended consequences (sometimes unanticipated consequences or unforeseen consequences) are outcomes that are not the ones intended by a purposeful action. The concept has long existed but was named and popularised in the 20th century by American sociologist Robert K. Merton.[1]

Unintended consequences can be roughly grouped into three types:

A positive, unexpected benefit (usually referred to as luck, serendipity or a windfall).
A negative, unexpected detriment occurring in addition to the desired effect of the policy (e.g., while irrigation schemes provide people with water for agriculture, they can increase waterborne diseases that have devastating health effects, such as schistosomiasis).
A perverse effect contrary to what was originally intended (when an intended solution makes a problem worse), such as when a policy has a perverse incentive that causes actions opposite to what was intended.

The internet was invented very deliberately to facilitate the sharing of research between institutes of higher learning, specifically in the physical sciences. That is what it was created for, to be a research tool. 90 percent of the internet goes on at levels below the general public’s awareness. In other words, the Internet is not the World Wide Web, the World Wide Web is but one facet of the Internet. It is the one that the general public is the most aware of,but it is not even remotely close to being the totality of the internet. I’m not going to go into detail here describing what the Internet is, there are entire libraries dedicated to doing that already.

What I am getting to here though, is that the creation of the internet, a) was not the result of a Marxist totalitarian command and control economy (if they had known what the impact of the internet was they would have started a nuclear war to prevent it’s creation)
b) has a profound law of unintended consequences footprint to it.

With the creation of the internet and the public’s open and aggressive embracing of it, one of those three possible laws of unintended consequences began to unfold. The Fifth Column Treasonous Media in America had been infiltrated slowly decade by decade by individuals whose political ideology was Marxism. They began transforming the Media more or less based upon the lessons learned by Joseph Goebbels during WWII into a propaganda and indoctrination device. Carefully keeping the curtain pulled shut on their true machinations by smoke and mirrors slight of hand movie magic that made them appear to be unbiased honest purveyors of information.

This is where the law of unintended consequences comes in. Before the internet, the Media had a monopoly on information dissemination. They stood as the gatekeepers deciding what information was disseminated and what was not. Furthermore, to add to their positions of power, they alone had a voice. There was indeed a very dire threat behind Mark Twains warning to “Never pick a fight with a man who buys ink by the barrel and paper by the ton.” Fact checking a newspaper or the Evening News in 1950 was nearly impossible, not to mention risky.

Then came the internet, with it’s amazing ability to…. Yup you guessed it, check in a matter of seconds nearly anything printed in a newspaper, magazine or broadcast on radio or television. As if that in and of itself wasn’t bad enough, the internet came complete with the ability of anyone having access to it also having the ability to communicate with everyone else who had access to it. John/Jane Q Public suddenly found him/herself with not only the ability to check the factual nature of what the Fifth Column Treasonous Media was telling them, but a voice with which to correct, refute and admonish a Media which was intentionally misleading and deceiving them.

Well totalitarian Marxist ideologues elitists that they are, the Fifth Column Treasonous Media are both unable to comprehend what is happening and unable to accept or adapt to losing their monopolistic iron grip on the minds of the average American. Thus they continue to desperately cast and flail about them for excuses why their sales and market share shrink year after year and why year after year the general public becomes increasingly distrustful of them.

The general public distrusts and despises you more and more each year, because the Internet, like Toto in the Wizard of Oz, has pulled the curtain back and reveled the ugly misshapen dishonest Marxist troglodyte behind the scenes who has been lying to and deceiving them for decades. Unlike the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz, there is absolutely nothing redeemable or likable about the troll behind the curtain.

Yes, we get it, we know, we understand. YOU do not believe that you are biased, you do not believe that you are doing anything wrong, we get it, everything you do is for a noble cause, a greater good. Yea, reality check… That’s exactly what the Nazi’s the Stalinist and the Maoists though about themselves as well.
