Hanlon’s razor.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

There are phrases in the every language such as the one above. They speak volumes in just a few short well chosen words. The truths they convey are universal, crossing all language, cultural and ethnic borders. Throughout history every race, every nationality, every culture has had it’s individuals who have made these kinds of observations and been fortunate enough to utter such phrases before anyone else, and thus be attributed with those saying.

From the ancient Chinese military genius Sun Tzu “A leader leads by example not by force” to RenĂ© Descartes ” I think, therefore I am” and of course my personal favorite from the lessor know American philosopher Edward Van Halen “We’re not like this because we are in a rock and roll band, we’re in a rock and roll band because this is what we are like” and finally Occam’s razor “the simplest explanation is usually the correct one”…

While these short pithy little statements convey universal truths, one must always remember that no universal truth is always 100 percent applicable to every situation. There are exceptions to every rule.

It would be both easy and highly tempting to apply Hanlon’s Razor to both the Fifth Column Treasonous Media and the Professional Blogging Class. The ease with which doing so would exonerate both the Fifth Column Treasonous Media and the Professional Blogging Class from their complete and utter failure to uphold their moral and ethical responsibility to hold those in positions of power accountable for their actions is genuinely frightening.

What happened to America’s once vaunted Fourth Estate ala The Fifth Column Treasonous Media, was as predictable as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. It was even in a strange twist of fate predicted by the notable American writer Samuel Langhorne Clemens, ala Mark Twain, who once said, “Never pick a fight with a man who buys ink by the barrel”. Combine Clemens statement with the universal truth uttered before the British Parliament in 1770 by John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely” and the end result was predictably inevitable.

At the end of the American Civil War, the powers that be in America recognized very correctly that the United States was suffering from a profound schism. Brother and fought brother over issues that went far deeper than merely deciding which side would rule the nation or decide it’s future. There were deep and profound moral and ethical issues at stake, whether one man had the moral and ethical right to own another, and just whom exactly had the right to decide their own fate.

In an attempt to heal those wounds, America’s most powerful men made a decision. A decision that profoundly impacted the direction of America. These men decided to import intellectuals and philosophers from Europe’s “Age of Enlightenment” and place them in high positions of trust in America’s institutes of Academia, Politics and Jurisprudence.

This was no conspiracy, there was no “Star Chamber” meeting of the Illuminate where all the most powerful men conspired together to rule the world. These were just powerful and influential men who saw their country battered and bleeding and felt a powerful desire to fix what was obviously broken.

The problem was not that they brought over a bunch of intellectuals and philosophers from Europe, the problem was in which of the intellectuals and philosophers they brought over. In the 1870’s and 80’s the most evangelical of Europe’s “Enlightened” intellectuals and philosophers were those who had a new philosophical and ideological religion. That new philosophical and ideological religion was Marxism.

In 1870-80 Marxism and it’s bastard children Communism and Socialism (and yes Progressivism) had yet to take over a single nation, and thus expose how utterly and completely corrupt and ruthlessly violent the foundational idea’s of Karl Marx and Frederic Engels were. In truth, there is no greater evil on earth than the core ideological concepts upon which Marxism stands. Marxism’s most basic and fundamental principal, it’s most important structural pillar is, “The End Justifies the Means”.

As the decades past, and Marxist regime after Marxist regime proved how utterly evil and corrupt that core ideological and philosophical principal is, those here in America who had been indoctrinated into Marxism reveled in the most disgusting and vile of dissociative acts of denial imaginable. They fell and even to this very day continue to fall back on the mantra, “If only the right people” if only the right people would implement Marxism then this time it will work for certain.

There are no right people, there never will be any right people. Attempts at implementing that evil philosophical ideology have killed more innocent human beings than all the other wars in the last 10,000 years. The body count of innocent lives wiped out of existence in the name of implementing the Marxist Utopia currently stands at somewhere just north of one BILLION people.

The vast majority of America’s once hallowed Fourth Estate and now corrupt Fifth Column Treasonous Media are Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky’s “Fellow Travelers”.

Intellectuals sympathetic to the Bolshevik cause and later to the Soviet Union as a socialist state.

The term fellow traveler (poputchiki) was used by Vladimir Lenin and other Bolsheviks to describe those who agreed with the principles of socialism but did not accept the entire Bolshevik program. Lenin attacked these “petty-bourgeois fellow travelers” for their weak understanding of theory and tactics, and for leading workers away from revolution. Leon Trotsky, in 1918, described the Left Socialist Revolutionaries in similar terms because of their vacillation on the October Revolution.

The pejorative sense of the term gave way in 1924, when Trotsky argued that fellow travelers in literature could be useful for the young Soviet state. He used the term to describe non-party writers who could serve the cause of revolution even though they were not proletarians. In Literature and Revolution, Trotsky argued that non-party intellectuals were no longer a serious threat and could be guided toward a proletarian view of the world. This was followed by a Central Committee resolution in 1925 refusing to prefer one faction or theory of literature over any other.

The groups and individuals defined as fellow travelers during the 1920s constituted a flourishing artistic and literary culture that produced the best Soviet literature of the decade. The most famous group was the Serapion Brotherhood, whose membership included Konstantin Fedin, Yevgeny Zamyatin, and Vsevolod V. Ivanov. These authors believed that literature should be free from outside control, but were generally sympathetic to the goals of the revolution. Others, perhaps less favorably inclined toward the Bolsheviks but nonetheless counted as fellow travelers, were Boris Pilnyak, Isaac Babel, and Mikhail Bulgakov.

By the late 1920s, fellow travelers were coming under increasing pressure from groups claiming to represent the proletariat, such as the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers (RAPP). In 1932, all independent organizations for writers and artists disappeared and the Writers’ Union was created. Fellow travelers were required to either join the union and follow its rules or stop publishing.

By the end of 1920s, the term “fellow traveler” had been taken up in other countries as a designation for people sympathetic to the Soviet Union and especially for intellectuals who publicly expressed support for Stalin. Romain Rolland and George Bernard Shaw, for instance, praised the Soviet Union and saw it as a real alternative to western political systems. In the post – World War II era, “fellow traveler” became a term of derision, applied by conservatives to people who were communists in all but party affiliation. Albert Einstein, for example, was called a “dupe and a fellow traveler” by Time magazine in 1949 for his outspoken belief in socialism.

These Marxist fellow travelers have been patiently awaiting their “Right People” to come riding up on their “White Horses” and usher in the grand American Marxist Utopia for nearly 100 years. Decade after decade they have slowly carefully infiltrated America’s Academia, Jurisprudence, Media and Political circles at the highest levels. Propagating their corrupt ideology by hand picking their protegees according to their ideology and using their positions of power and influence to ensure that their protegees become their successors.

Then, when Barack Insane Obama announced his candidacy, they saw what they believed was their Knight in shining armor. Their long awaited Marxist Messiah come to usher in the age of glorious Marxism, their Utopia. Here it was, their long years of suffering and patience were about to finally bear the fruit they had placed all of their hopes and dreams in. So what if every single attempt in the past to bring about a Marxist Utopia had resulted in the deaths of over a billion people, this time it would work, this time it would be the right people.

So a Fourth Estate that had been charged in no less than the United States Constitution’s very first Amendment with protecting the American people from tyranny of any sort, abdicated their moral and ethical responsibility to be the peoples advocates against corruption and became the very embodiment of systemic, endemic institutional corruption. All while claiming the very self same mantle of the voice of the people, projecting what they wanted and needed the America to believe, not what the American people actually believed into and upon everything they produced.

Yes, Fifth Column Treasonous Media is a perfect description of what they are and have become. Hanlon’s Razor absolutely does not apply to the Media. Their actions are not mere stupidity, but pure mendacious malfeasance.

As to the professional Bogging Class, theirs is a mixed story. Some in the Professional Blogging Class are every bit the children of Edward R Murrow (points at Michelle Malkin), (perhaps the last genuinely great American Journalist). Others can metaphorically trace their genetic linage to Samuel Langhorne Clemens or perhaps William F Buckley (points at Iowahawk and Patterico).

Yet a very wide swath of them (Points directly at Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey) are nothing less than the wannabe children of the disgraced, discredited and opprobrious former CBS Anchorman Dan Rather. They are the garage band wannabe rock stars of journalism. They follow the lead of the Fifth Column Treasonous Media carefully avoiding making any radical statements in terrifying fear of losing their “Media” creditability (and hence their possible future lucrative appearance fee’s and television face time).

The Fifth Column Treasonous Media has learned to manipulate the American people to a degree and in a manner that would make Nazi Germany’s Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels genuinely turn green with envy. Once upon a time the New York Times motto was “All the News that’s Fit to print”. That motto today could better be summed up as, “Only the Propaganda we want you to believe”.

They have long since abandoned the standards of the once sacred journalistic creed, the Five W’s. Once upon a time it was considered an abomination for a reporter or journalist to interject their own personal ideology or philosophies into their work. Hunter S Thompson hammered the final nail into objective journalism with his Gonzo journalism, now in the once hallowed place of objective journalism resides a narcissistic arrogant tin platted swaggering dictator with delusions of godhood who projects his own Marxist delusions upon an unsuspecting populace. Who decides what the public will think by either mocking and ridiculing those who fail to share his/her enlightened Marxist/Socialist/Progressive ideological world view, or by outright refusing to cover those stories that would expose the corruption of those ideologies.

The example of this odious practice are there for everyone to see, from the dishonest and deceitful treatment of the “TEA Parties” to the intentional burying of Obamanation Administration scandals like “Operation Fast and Furious” Benghazi, the IRS intimidation of Conservative politically active citizens, the NSA 4th and 5th amendment violations.

Consider the difference between how those above mentioned scandals have been treated, (not just by the Fifth Column Treasonous Media, but by the Professional Blogging Class as well) and how the entire media treated Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein reporting on the Watergate scandal. Yes, the Fifth Column Treasonous Media is utterly corrupt and totally disgraceful and many in the Professional Blogging Class are the fellow travelers of those fellow travelers carrying their water in the hopes of one day becoming Fifth Column Treasonous Media superstars themselves.

  1. “You are still a bit harsh on Ed.”

Ed’s a nice guy, who doesn’t want to offend lest he lose his small seat at the table. He’s a midwest RINO who thinks we can go along to get along despite society being about to crash over a cliff. He’s like the tea partiers who have their picture taken with a diverse group of protesters to fight back against the racist narrative and wonder why it doesn’t help. The media is still gonna call you a racist (its the only card they have) and if you worry about it, you’ll be dancing to their tune with them in the lead.

    • Perhaps, and perhaps not. Consider how history might have turned out had Walter Cronkite not lied to the American people night after night during the Vietnam War.

Hot Air was once a thriving growing expanding conservative force, now it is a fading shadow and that is because of Ed.

Ed is not a conservative, not back in his Captains Quarters days, and not since turning Hot Air into a John McCain RINO blog.

  2. Hi. There seems to be a bit of an insurrection going on at hot gas. See the quotd thread last night.

I have not read your post … but it looked interesting as I scrolled by so I shall quickly peruse it.
